Semenograms:
What factors are considered in the semenogram?
Normally, we analyze the volume, acidity (pH), density, the number of mobile spermatozoa, morphology (shape) and the number of leucocytes present. Sometimes, the sample is used to detect antibodies (MAR test).
What is a “normal” semenogram?
The World Health Organization has laid down specific criteria for this, which gives an approximate idea of the possibilities of a successful pregnancy. This is not an exact measure – it only indicates that a man whose sperm has certain qualities may need more or less time to achieve fertilizing one of his partner´s oocytes (eggs).
