Why are semenograms necessary?
Because about one third of fertility problems are of male origin, and one third are of both partners. Thus semenograms are routine diagnostic tests and constitute a basic part of the diagnosis of infertility of male origen.
What does a semenogram entail?
A fresh sample of the male partner´s sperm must be deposited in a special container and swiftly handed in to the laboratory, preferably within an hour. A basic condition is that the man should not have had an ejaculation for 3-4 days before this sample is obtained, since results may vary considerably otherwise. |
