Oocyte Donation:

The Receiver
In patients with premature menopause or who have had both ovaries removed, or those who have a chromosomal disorder which is systematically transmitted to their offspring, or those who do not respond well to ovarian stimulation and repeatedly fail to conceive despite IVF treatment, or even for other reasons, the possibility of becoming pregnant exists via oocyte donation. Women receivers must take medication which prepares the womb for oocyte implantation; and while they wait for a suitable donation, they must stay in touch with the clinic to facilitate their localization. Oocyte donors are thoroughly screened to rule out the possibility of congenital or sexually transmitted disease. Oocyte donation is the most efficient method used in assisted reproduction.
